Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

This page describes how Cashout is intended to work today. It is not final legal advice and has not been reviewed by a qualified Australian lawyer. Get that review, and update the settings-driven "Terms of Service version" below, before relying on this to operate a live service.

Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Cashout. By creating an account you agree to them. Cashout operates in Australia and these terms are intended to be read alongside the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).

1. What Cashout is

Cashout posts deals on specific devices at a fixed payout, priced separately for new-in-box and used condition. You commit to a quantity of a deal for the device you already have, ship it to us or drop it off, and — once we verify what arrived matches the condition and quantity you declared — the payout is credited to your Cashout wallet, from which you can request a payout to your bank account or PayID. There's nothing to buy — you're sending in a device you already own.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, capable of forming a binding contract, and hold an Australian bank account or PayID to receive payouts. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your login credentials secure.

3. Deals and commitments

A deal's payout, condition tier (new or used), pool size, and closing date are set by us and may change or close at any time before you commit. Committing to a deal reserves a quantity against its pool but does not lock in the payout you'll actually receive — the price you're paid is fixed at the moment your parcel is scanned by the carrier (for shipped items) or confirmed delivered (for drop-offs), using the deal's price at that moment, which may differ from the price when you committed.

4. Shipping, drop-off, and verification

You're responsible for packaging your items securely and shipping or dropping them off using one of the delivery methods the deal allows, addressed exactly as instructed (including any shipping code we give you) so we can match it to your account. We check in what arrives and verify the quantity and condition against what you declared. If everything matches, your wallet is credited and the submission moves to awaiting payment. If it doesn't match, we'll review it and email you the outcome before crediting anything — no support ticket required on your part.

Every submission carries a declared value and an insurance fee: the first $100 of declared value is insured at no cost, and every additional $100 (rounded up) costs $1.50, deducted from your wallet when the submission is created regardless of the outcome.

5. Payments and payout methods

Your wallet balance is the running total of amounts credited to and debited from your account with us — it doesn't earn interest and isn't held in a separate trust account unless we say otherwise. You can request a payout of your available balance at any time to a bank account (BSB and account number) or a PayID you've registered. Changing your payout method requires a one-time code sent to your email — we won't act on a change to where your money goes without it.

We aim to process payout requests promptly but don't guarantee a specific processing time.

6. Your account

You can close your account at any time from Settings, provided your wallet balance is zero and you have no pending payouts or active submissions. Closing your account anonymizes your profile rather than deleting your transaction history outright — we keep the financial and audit records tax and financial record-keeping rules require, no longer linked to you personally.

We may suspend or close an account we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, to commit or evade a content mismatch, or in breach of these terms.

7. Your consumer guarantees

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it's limited to the extent the law allows.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Cashout isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including loss or damage to items in transit before they reach us (which is what the insurance fee in section 4 covers, up to the declared value).

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the current version number is shown in the admin Settings page and we'll take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes before they take effect.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the support address shown on our Contact page.
